How straightforward are radio personalities? I think it varies widely. I’m not saying that radio folks are dishonest. I just think that some keep their lives very private and others do not. I think that “The Happy Gang” morning show on AM 740 is pretty open. It wasn’t planned that way. Eva, John and I were thrust together in a management decision. We didn’t seek out one another. For whatever reason, though, it worked out. We found we had chemistry and we enjoy working with one another.
“The Happy Gang” is a pretty honest radio show, warts and all. Some bad habits, past squabbles, disappointments, etc., can come up in conversation. Sure, some things remain private, as family certain family matters and other relationships should, but I think our listeners know us pretty well for the most part. It’s an upbeat, positive show. We avoid cheap shock-value humour and strive for good taste in our material, although our show’s namesake in the old CBC days might not agree: Some of our conversations would have gotten us fired, were we a part of the original “Happy Gang” in the 1950’s, for example. But tastes and attitudes change over time and I, for one, am proud of the program we present on AM 740 each morning. Our show is not meant to be background or “elevator” music. It requires a special kind of listener: One who seeks a mix of memorable music, humour, topical conversation, news and other helpful information. It’s a variety program and the only one in Toronto aimed at the “zoomer” audience: People over 45, or “boomers with zip.”
As always, thanks for your support and we welcome your comments and suggestions here at AM 740.ca

Hi Brother Bill: thrust together, eh! Well, you know how I feel about you & Eva, John’s another story, but he does fit well with the Happy Gang. He does get carried away, sometimes, but you & Eva do keep him in line. Guess it wouldn’t be the Happy Gang without him. You know, saw your pic on the bus to Collingwood & what are you talking about you needing to lose weight. I love food just as much as you, but it’s all staying in my gut. Where does it go on you, certainly not in your gut. You look real nice & fit to me. It’s all those buffets! Once I start, can’t stop eating. Beer doesn’t help either, but as I told a friend of mine recently, you only live once. Go for it! Enjoy The Taste of the Kingsway & have a beer for me. ‘k. Later, Brother Bill. Ever visit the Walden Galleria Mall, let me know. Would love to meet ‘cha. Later, dude!!!
