Hi Dennis,
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed hearing the band play “The Maple
Leaf Forever” yesterday. What a lovely Canadian song, and what a shame
we never hear it anymore. We always sang it in Public School on Rememrance
day, and other holidays. I feel very sad that some traditions have gone
the way of the dodo bird. Keep up the good work.

I Justwant to say that listening to Robert Wilson’s “So Deep is The Night” brought a tear to my eyes as my Mother used to play that tune on the piano. I was born in Motherwell and used to pass Robert Wilson’s
house on Hamilton road,Motherwell on my way to Dalziel High School
when I was about (14) years old a good number of years ago. Thankyou.

Dear Denis, Love your show hope you can keep it up a wee while longer lol, My deceased husband Alex came over to Canada the w/e of 24th of May 1964 & Ive often wandered if you were on the same flight, he & another fellow Scot sat side to side with German lady & exchanged drinks as if? anyways they landed at Halifax to refuel they were both staggering but not the old lady, last Sunday on your mothers day show you played two versions of old Scots mither mine it was my hubby’s favorite when he was drunk, I know you lead a busy life but if would be so nice if you could let me know , back to your show bye for now

My son called at 5PM saying you can listen to
A Little breath of Scotland on 949 rogers cable
Loud and in STERIO. His Mum is also very happy as she does’t
have to do a balancing act with the rabbit ears 22 floors up.
The last time I was at the Flying cloud to see Archie Fisher
You where there.Is Franf McCabe still around IMI Istruments.

I listen from NH.

I like your show and find that I like Scottish music
more appealing than most Irish music. I suppose being
part Scottish doesn’t hurt.

No offence to the very fine Irish people.

hi denis my dad was born in aberdeen he lived in canada when he was 13 years of age nov.8,2008 he was with the toronto scotish pipe band before he died he was with the highland creek pips and drums he was a brum instructor for duram college pipe band he retired from the toronto fire services pipe band. i would like to request a song for him northern light of aberdeen

A few weeks ago you played a tune by Alex Mckinnon with Norman Murray on drums. Norm was my wife Jean’s brother, He passed away several years ago and it was a real thrill to hear his name mentioned on your show.
We enjoy very much listening to “A Little Breath of Scotland” each week.

Hi, Denis: Love your show and particularly enjoyed the tribute to the best of Scottish tenors, the late and great Kenneth McKellar. A man who was obviously content to have his career based in Scotland and even though internationally known, still preferred the “auld sod” before anywhere else. I was amazed to know that he had written scripts for Monty Python. Who knew?!
Speaking of Scottish Tenors, I would like to hear more of “Caledon” on your program, please. I saw them for the first time about 3 years ago in Toronto and thought they were excellent (an’ no bad-lookin’ either!). Anything by them would be appreciated but particularly would like to hear “500 Miles” (if this can’t be done by The Proclaimers), or “Road to Balquidder”. As well, would love to hear Kenneth McKellar singing “Ma Ain Folk”.
Thank you, Denis, for bringing a “little breath of Scotland” to us every Sunday. Lang may it continue.

There’s another verse to ” A wee Cock Sparrow” which we sang at our Campfires with the Skelmorlie Scouts (71st Ayrshire). It’s their 75th Anniversary this year.

“The wee boy said “Sir, you’ll hae tae excuse me”
(Repeat twice)
For the size of your nose and your coat’tails confused me!”
