Fans of Scottish music have a weekly treat on Sunday afternoons when Denis Snowdon hosts A Little Breath of Scotland. Denis has hosted this show for over 45 consecutive years, and justly deserves having one of Ontario’s top-rated programs on Sundays between 4-6pm.
Bagpipes and highland jigs are part of the show for sure, but so are pop songs and favorite ballads. Denis also brings news and football scores from home while updating local events too.

Congratulations on your special Robert Burns edition on Jan. 22. It encompassed the path of Burn’s life and a judicious sample of his best known works. The special treat for me were some of the less frequently aired works, especially the treatise on liberty. This was a carefully crafted production that everywhere showed the producer’s scholarship and passion for their subject. Much like “The Immortal Memory” it left me with a feeling of reverence.
Hi Karen,
You can find Denis’ playlist from the May 8th show on http://www.denissnowdon.com – and you can also listen to the show in its entirety here.
Thanks for tuning in!
Good morning: On the Mother’s Day program on Sun. May 8, you played a song about “mothers”…(I cried a million tears) or something like that. I’d love to have the wording. Where can I get it or what is the name of the song. Thanks for you time, Karen Smith
Hi Denis
Could you tell me the name of the artist that sings ‘Murphy and the bricks”
I’d like to get a copy of it somehow.
Thanks
Peter Piccirilli
Just heard a preview for your show earlier this week. I love the barritone singer at the begining. Just wondering who the singer is and what song he is singing.
Thank You
