It was Valentine’s Day 1927 when our love affair began with the Maple Leafs. Our beloved Leafs turn 85 next week and we remember how Conn Smythe’s dream became a hockey reality this Sunday on Mike Filey’s Toronto, at 12:30, from Zoomer Radio, AM 740.

1. Feb 9, 1975 Toronto-born musician/composer Percy Faith dies
2. Feb 14, 1927 Conn Smythe buys Toronto St Pats hockey team and immediately renames it Toronto Maple Leafs.
3. Feb 11, 1977 Phase One of the new Eaton Centre opens
