Even that master of relaxation, Bing Crosby called him “…the man who invented CASUAL!” He wanted to be the best barber in town – instead Perry Como became a superstar.
His records sold so many copies, he eventually asked his label to stop counting – Perry was a humble and decent man, married to his teenage sweetheart for 65 years.
Next week marks the 100th anniversary of Perry Como’s birthday … and this Sunday, I’ll put the spotlight on “Mr. C”.
Join host Gene Stevens for an afternoon of casual classics and magic moments on Vintage Favourites, Sunday at 2, from AM 740.
