I just love the “Theater of the Mind” program. I make sure I’m all settled in to bed right when it comes on. It’s like my bedtime story before I go to sleep. It makes you forget the pressures of the day and I just relax and fall asleep. I’m not old enough to have heard them when they originally came out( I’m 58),but I can see why they were so popular way back when. I’m from the suburbs of Chicago, so the broadcast fades in and out sometimes, but that makes it even more special when it comes in so clear from so far away in Canada! The mystery and detective series are great, and the comedy of “Fibber Mcgee and Molly” seems like it could have been written in the present time they are so good. I hope your program stays on for a long, long time. Thanks again, Wayne

Brian love the old radio shows I have 5 old tube type radios from 1938 to 1947 4 table models and 1 floor model and there’s nothing better then to listen to one of the old radio shows on one of these old radios and thank that someone long ago was listing to this same radio years ago and may have been listing to the same show and most likely was getting to here it live I have a 16 yr old daughter and likes listing to them on the 1939 Truetone.

Brian, AM740, absolutley love Theatre of the Mind. I listen mostly on my ride home from work way over here in Vermont. Reception at night during the show in Winter is excellent. When not driving, I listen online, or on my shortwave radio. Reminds me of the days before my time, when radio was in it,s “golden age”. Please keep it going. I also enjoy the Big Band music, nothing like it on AM radio.THANKS AGAIN!!

Brian .today august 30 am 74′S happy gang played your top ten songs from 1954 . I was entering high school and started to go to the high school dances .many of the kids ended up going steady with the girls they asked for a dance.my friend at the dance accepted my offer to dance and they played ! JOHHNY ACE PLEDGING MY LOVE. Nearly fifty years have gone by since his propositally suicide WHITH a gun shot to the head after a performance in TEXAS..TODAY I WAS A LITTLE SAD THE SONG NEVER GOT PLAYED .COULD YOU PLEASE PLAY IT SOME FRIDAY NIGHT IT WOULD MEAN A LOT TO THE 1950,s gang from PETERBOROUGH COLLEGIATE AND VOCATIONAL SCHOOL and all of your listeners would probably like to hear the JOHNNY ACE STORY? Brian; I’m a long-time listener from down here in New Jersey.Love the show-just wish they gave you more time!I liked the recent Sherlock Holmes series,and also the one about the sailboat cruisinng the south seas,i think it was called “The Adventures Of The Dragon Queen” or some such. It was unusual. I’d like to recommend the “Fort Laramie” radio series that Raymond Burr did back in the 50’s-it’s very good.

Really enjoy theatre of the mind, would enjoy it more if the format was reversed and the comedy was first followed by the mystery. I would be like going to bet with a bedtime story, the comedy winds me up just before bed, were as the mystery settles me down, I am wondering if the other listeners feel the same way.

wondering if you could play “The Private Lives of Ethel and Albert”. Maybe you have; Although I try to listen to Theatre of the Mind as often as I can, I don’t get to listen to it as often as I would like to. It’s my favourite type of radio to listen to. I enjoy listening to it in bed while doing cross-word puzzles. I wish you could play it from 10 p.m. – 4 a.m.

I just loved the Christmas shows, especially the Jack Benny Christmas shopping shows. Mel Blanc was hilarious. I’ve been a regular listener for a couple of years and can’t tell you how much I enjoy both the dramas and comedies. Thanks Brian, for keeping this great era of radio alive and well.

This has been my night time listening for over two months now. It’s great that you have mysteries and thrillers, etc. followed by comedy. I wish it was on an hour earlier as I used to go to bed by 10 or 10:30 but I’m getting used to it. This is from my Dad’s era; it must have been great gathering around the radio in the evening. A tragic loss for these generations.
Let’s keep this on.

I’m a nubie CFZM listener here in Michigan….I particularly enjoy the dramas from The Golden Age of Radio….how about “I was a Communist for the FBI” or “The Lone Ranger” or “The Green Hornet” or “The FBI in Peace and War” or “Boston Blackie” etc etc ….keep up the good work :-)

Have been listening here in Vermont to old time radio each evening at 10 for quite some time. Have noticed recently that the shows being aired are repeats. I have heard them on 740 before. Is it time to get new packages of shows from that great era?? Await your reply. Keep up the good work.

Thoroughly enjoy Theatre of the mind. Make a 75 year old VERY nostalgic. Listen whenever the atmosphere allows you thru which is about once every three days….But I try every night.

This is such an awsome station! My wife and I are in our twentys and are into the old radio programs. We live in Waukegan, Illinois, (Jack Benny’s home town) And again like a previous replyer We have old time tube radios wich we listen to your old time radio shows with. My wife and I have started to play cards and listen to the old time radio broadcast. How well I recall listening to the radio shows….much better than TV, as the listener made his/her own mental images. While in Toronto for Grade 9, Sundays was reserved for radio shows which began at about 3:00 PM. The newspaper had all the listings, and I recall jumping back and forth between two USA stations and the CBC. The last program came in at about 10:30. I thrived on I was a communist for the FBI; Suspence; tales from the crypt; Boston Blackie; Dragnet; the Shadow; cowboy shows and the comedies. It was great. TV with its laugh-track just doesn’t compare. Cheers, Graham Ducker

I have to say that “Theater of the Mind” is my favourite program on the radio. It is interesting to hear programs from the previous generations (I’m between 30 and 35).

I listen to your program while I work on my knitting etc. I enjoy not having to watch a television screen to be entertained. Listening to your program leaves my eyes free to watch what I’m working on so I get more done. (I wonder if sitting and listening to radio programs is the secret to how people from before the 60s used to get so much needle point/mending/sewing etc done.)

Thank-you for presenting the old radio shows to a new generation of future Zoomers.

I listen nearly every night. The old radio programs are far better than the junk they pass off on T.V.. They sure bring back the memories of sitting around the old table model Philco, when a person had to use their imagination.

I am not old enough to actually remember these programs, but I really enjoy most of them you play and it is my regular routine to listen at 9;00 Mon.-Thurs. I think your shows are great, Brian. I too am an antique tube radio restorer and love listening to your episodes. I get your signal crystal clear 98% of the time with very little fading on a 1938 Zenith console radio way down here in Sugar Grove, West Virginia. Your broadcast quality is excellant and I don’t notice any annoying “hiss” from HD on that frequency. I am betting that your station does not use that unecessary technology.
