Screening tests are tests done to identify a disease process before there are symptoms. Several cancers have effective screening tests, including colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and cervical cancer. Screening tests exist for other cancers as well. It is important for all of us to discuss cancer screening with our doctors to know how we can catch cancer early and defeat it.
On Thursday’s GFB at 12:30 – Dr. Zach, GFB house Doctor, will talk about pain management.
From statscan: Chronic pain affects more than one-quarter of seniors living in households and close to 4 out of every 10 in institutions, and it can have a profound impact on their quality of life. For seniors in private households, it was more common than diabetes, heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease, among others. In institutions, only incontinence, arthritis and Alzheimer’s disease were more common. However, multiple treatment modalities are now available. Pain is not a “normal part of aging”! If you or someone you love is suffering from pain, see your doctor .
