Since officially closing the shelter on Tuesday, March 17th due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Toronto Humane Society has had to make a number of operational changes AND still need your support.
A major adjustment has been the shut down of almost all of our public services including including fundraising events, public viewing of animals, training classes as well as our entire spay/neuter clinic which offers veterinary services to the public. In light of this, we continue to pull knowledge from our experts on how to take each of these services digital. We are excited to have just launched online training classes now!
In an effort to continue finding animals homes amidst this crisis one of the changes to our day-to-day operations was launching our digital adoptions program. The process is just as simple and doesn’t stray too far from our typical process. Although, we have had to adjust how they are conducted and schedule meet & greets in a very thoughtful way. The adopters still get the very same information, education and resources that we typically offer; we’ve just taken it to a digital platform. Essentially the prospective adopters can view the animals which we have available for adoption on our website, wwww.torontohumanesociety.com, take a look at their bios which have information on the animal and then email in their application to be reviewed on a first – come , first serve basis. Afterwards there will be a phone interview and a scheduled meet and greet to follow.

As we continue to attend to the needs of our animals during this crisis, we will still be taking online donations to support all of the animals we are sheltering, who are in foster homes, and the dedicated staff who are working behind the scenes to care for our shelter buddies during this time.
