There’s nothing like being at a live performance – that special anticipation before showtime, the electricity in the air, the energy that radiates from the stage, the unique combination of feelings that range from nostalgic memories to intense emotions that can only be fully experienced being there in person. There’s the satisfaction you feel knowing the performer has given it all, and the warm glow you walk out with, not to mention the lasting memories of your special experience – often triggered by hearing ‘that song’ again.

Of course none of that is possible in this Covid-Summer of 2020 – with all live performances on hold or, at best, watched on screens from your tiny cell-phone or laptop to perhaps at drive-in theater screens. But it ‘just ain’t the same’. We’re taking a different approach with the Vintage Favourites ‘Fantasy Park Series’ of live performance highlights from famous concerts of the past. I started this series last week featuring The Beatles and Rolling Stones, Eagles, Elton John, Neil Diamond, James Brown, Ronnie Hawkins, Michael Buble, Leonard Cohen and others … with a surprise opening performance by our own Robbie Lane and his Disciples.

This Sunday it’s a ‘Return to Fantasy Park’ with another wonderful line-up including: headliners Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel, plus Sting, Burton Cummings, Bryan Adams, Bonnie Raitt and Fats Domino. We’ll remember two great soul stars at the historic Monterey Pop Festival – Otis Redding and Lou Rawls, plus Gordon Lightfoot at Massey Hall and featured appearances by Joan Baez and Ella Fitzgerald, not to mention Tony Bennett and Paul McCartney. Sounds good ? Sounds great ! Don’t miss our ‘Return to Fantasy Park’ this Sunday at our special early start time right after the 1 o’clock news.
