And suddenly it’s September ! Summers usually seem to fly by too fast – although this Covid-cancelled summer felt slower than most – yet here we are in September. And I’ll present this year’s edition of our ‘Labour Day Work Songs’ – with a few new entries you’ve not heard me play before and many of the ‘must-play classics’. It’s my annual salute to ‘the workers of the world’. Our songs will transport us from coal mines deep in the earth, to factory floors, farms and sky-high office towers. Some songs – like some jobs – will make us smile and laugh, while others might break our hearts, if not our backs.

I’ll also celebrate Michael Buble turning 45. We were the first major market radio station to eagerly and fully support the young crooner from BC back in 2003 – and it’s a joy and a thrill to see how far he’s come.

In our first-hour feature: ‘This Week in Zoomer Music’ – it’s another fascinating smorgasbord taking us from Elvis at the Grand Ole Opry, and the Beatles’ complicated recording sessions for their first UK hit ‘Love Me Do’, to that tragic day when the world lost Princess Diana and how that led to Elton John’s recording of ‘Candle in the Wind ’97’ – the all-time top-selling record. We’ll also hear Freddy Mercury, the Bee Gees, Valdy and that ‘Uptown Funk’ … it’ll be a great show, so join me. Sunday at 1. Cheers.
