John Lennon would be turning 80 next week on October 9th – if he were still alive. We lost John 40 years ago this December, and I’m planning another memorial for him then. But this Sunday, it’s a celebratory salute to the founder of The Quarrymen and The Beatles. I’ve gathered 19 terrific songs from Lennon’s earliest recordings through the Fab Four’s finest, into his solo years. And we’ve got another big birthday salute to one of our own – Toronto music legend Robbie Lane, who’s been a Zoomer Radio show host for over a decade. You’ll hear Robbie’s famous, well-known songs, as well as a couple lesser-known surprises.

This is a particularly fascinating week in Zoomer Music history including the story of the REAL ‘Lucy’ (in the sky with diamonds).  Plus – Elvis Presley’s first-ever public performance came at age 10; Jerry Lee Lewis had an odd way of celebrating his birthday – accidentally shooting his bass player, and the day ‘The Boss’ walked into an Arizona bar, and changed a waitress’ life. Great stories, great songs – I hope you’ll tune in this Sunday at 1, for ‘Vintage Favourites’.
