‘THE CADILLAC OF SHOWS’ – SALUTING ROCK & ROLL’S FAVOURITE CAR

The Cadillac is mentioned in more songs than any other car. Sure, Don McLean had his ‘Chevy by the levee’, Janis Joplin her ‘Mercedes-Benz’, Prince his ‘Little Red Corvette’ and Wilson Pickett, his ‘Mustang Sally’ … but rock’n’roll and rhythm & blues have celebrated The Cadillac for decades. And now I‘ll join in with a salute, featuring a dozen great songs by Elvis and Aretha Franklin, The Hawk and The Boss and others – just in time to mark the 120th anniversary of The Cadillac, founded in August 1902.

I’m also marking the 35th anniversary of ‘Dirty Dancing’, remembering the day Elvis met The Beatles, Elton John made his North American debut at LA’s Troubadour Club, and ‘The Story Behind the Song‘ ‘The Locomotion’. That’s all in the show’s first hour – ‘This Week in Zoomer Music‘ – so I hope you’ll tune in this Sunday from 2:00 to 4:30.
