Hi, I’m Gene Stevens – with a look ahead to my next ‘Vintage Favourites’ … featuring the ‘Vintage Year – 1940’. Europe was at war, the Battle of Britain raged, and nightingales sang in Berkeley Square – or so we hoped.
Disney ruled the box office with both Fantasia and Pinocchio, The Shadow ruled radio, and swing was king with Goodman, Miller, Dorsey and Shaw scoring giant hits. And, on ‘Vintage Canadiana’, I’ll spotlight Mart Kenney, Terry Black … and the story behind the Black Donnellys murder case this week in 1880, with a couple of songs you’ve just got to hear.
That’s ‘Vintage Favourites’ – this Sunday from 2 – 4:30, from ZoomerRadio.
