Coming up this week on Finding Your Bliss, our Celebrity Guest is Golden Globe, Emmy, and Canadian Screen Award-winner Andrew Barnsley, who recently won 9 Emmy awards for the Canadian Hit Comedy series, Schitt’s Creek (CBC/PopTV/Netflix).
He also just became the President of the Toronto Film School. He produces the award-winning show, Jann, and his newest series Son of a Critch, the new CBC comedy based on the comedian Mark Critch’s memoir. Barnsley is also the Executive Producer on the revival of Canadian cult-classic, Kids In The Hall, which is making its comeback and airing on the American streaming giant, Amazon.
A true Canadian success story in film and television, Andrew Barnsley is based in Toronto and Los Angeles, He is a six-time Canadian Screen Award-winning Executive Producer. And Barnsley is currently an Executive Producer on CTV/Bell Media’s 22 x ½ hour comedy series Jann starring Jann Arden, CBC’s 13 x ½ hour comedy series Son Of A Critch, Amazon Prime’s 8 x ½ hour comedy series Kids In The Hall.
Barnsley’s 2022 development and production slate includes various series with CTV/Bell Media, CBC, CityTV/Rogers Media, Amazon Studios, and Hulu. He has served previously as an Executive Producer on CBC/PopTV’s 80 x ½ hour series Schitt’s Creek starring Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, Family Channel/CBBC’s 15 x ½ hour tween series My Perfect Landing, CTV’s 26 x 1/2 hour sitcom Spun Out starring Dave Foley, the TMN/Movie Central documentary series Sports On Fire and the HBO Canada documentary feature Spirit Unforgettable (2016). Since 2001, Barnsley has produced content across multiple genres and formats, including comedy, animation, live-action, children’s, documentary and multiple live concert specials.
During the course of his career, Andrew Barnsley, CEO at Project10 Productions Inc., has also just become the President of the Toronto Film School. He is a huge advocate for education, holding a Master’s in Communications and Culture (Ryerson and York Universities), a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Radio and Television Arts (Ryerson University), a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies (Carleton University), and a Bachelor of Education (St. Thomas University). As President of the Toronto Film School, Barnsley is training a whole new generation of young filmmakers, so they’re ready for the job market, and he’s also giving them the tools to make a difference and create a positive impact in Canadian film and television.
