Investigators say people claiming to be from a bank convince victims to withdraw money to be used as part of a theft investigation involving bank staff.

They’re told to wait at home for a call to confirm the money has been re-deposited — a call that never comes.

Police say banks never ask clients to withdraw money as part of an investigation, and anyone receiving such a request should report it immediately.
