Four members of one family have died after being trapped in a burning  house north of Toronto.

York Regional Police say someone inside the home in East Gwillimbury called 911 to report a fire around 5:30 a.m. Friday.

Const. Blair McQuillan says police and firefighters were unable to get three males and a female out of a second-floor bedroom, where they died.

The victims are identified as Kevin Dunsmuir, 55, his wife Jennifer, 51, and their two sons Robert, 19, and Cameron, 16.

The family’s eldest son, 24-year-old David, was not home.

He’s a student at Brock University in St. Catharines.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
