A train derailment in a picturesque town in Quebec’s Eastern Townships has caused an explosion, a huge fire and a giant, billowing cloud of black smoke.

The derailment, in Lac Megantic, about 250 kilometres east of Montreal, involved a 73-car train carrying crude oil.

Although there are people reported missing, Quebec Provincial Police say they don’t know if there are any casualties.
