For thousands of residents of the Greater Toronto Area it’s a Christmas week like never before. 

 Many may be in the dark through Christmas day and beyond because of the massive ice storm that slammed through the region.

As of 4:00 pm Monday there were just under 200 thousand customers still without electricity because of downed power lines; most felled by heavy, ice-laden tree branches.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford thanked the Province for supplying forestry workers to work with Hydro crews in the cleanup.

Toronto Hydro C-E-O Anthony Haines says more crew crews are on the way from other jusrisdictions to assist Toronto Hydro.

Mayor Ford says the city hopes to have enough warming centre spaces to accomodate a thousand people who may need them Monday night.
