A memorial service was held Saturday for Edward Hung, a Toronto lawyer who went to Switzerland to end his life. Hung suffered from A.L.S, known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and had made a strong plea for Canada to adopt an assisted-suicide law. According to a friend, a group of lawyers is exploring the idea of having Hung’s plea be included in a Supreme Court hearing involving a right to life case it will look at later this spring. Hung made his passionate plea in a video and open letter.
