Winston Churchill’s last surviving child has died.
Mary Soames, the youngest of the five children of war-time British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and his wife Clementine, died Saturday evening after a breif illness according to her son Nicholas.
During World-War II, while her father led the fight against the Nazis, Soames joined the Red Cross, where she served in London, Belgium and Germany.
She wrote a number of books about the Churchill family, and married Conservative Party politician Christopher Soames. When he was made a peer, she became Lady Soames.
