A love letter to Marilyn Monroe, written by New York Yankees slugger Joe DiMaggio, has fetched $78,125 at an auction in Beverly Hills.

The letter was written by DiMaggio after Monroe said she was divorcing him, and was among 300 items in a collection  called “Marilyn Monroe’s Lost Archives.”

The letter was purchased Saturday by an undiclosed buyer.

Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills says a handwritten letter from Monroe to playwright Arthur Miller, her third and final husband, was sold for $43,750.

Monroe willed her collection of letters to her mentor, acting coach Lee Strasberg.

She died in 1962 at the age of 36 of a drug overdose.
