Egypt’s president is expected to pardon a number of prisoners this weekend, and the family of 40-year-old Mohamed Fahmy is hoping the Egyptian-Canadian journalist is one of them.

Fahmy and two Al Jazeera English co-workers were arrested in December 2013 and convicted a year later on terror-related charges.

The roller-coaster ride continues for his family wondering if he will finally be freed from a Cairo prison.
