The University of Notre Dame is facing criticism over a class about “white privilege.
The famed Catholic institution located in South Bend, Indiana calls the course a workshop “designed to educate students about the definitions of white privilege, its causes and effects, with the goal of helping students become more aware of social injustices.
Critics say the course should cover the concept of privilege from all angles.
But in light of recent killings of black men by white police officers, the chair of Notre Dame’s sociology department says the class is clearly appropriate for a Catholic university that prdes itself on social justice.
