A Dutch restoration company has offered to repair a 400-year-old fountain damaged last week when supporters of Rotterdam soccer team Feyenoord, went on a drunken rampage in Rome.

Beer bottles amongst other fan paraphernalia were hurled into the Barcaccia fountain at the foot of the Spanish Steps which chipped some stone work,  last Thursday, before a European Cup match between Feyenoord and Roma.

The incident escalated enough in that Rome Police had to use tear gas and arrest 29 people.
Employees at Dutch firm Royal Woudenberg  offered their services to the mayor, and is willing cover up to $50,000 euros in repairs. The Dutch government has also said it will support individual initiatives to make good on the damage.

City officials in the capital are still assessing the damage, and have not taken the company up on it’s offer at this time.
