A CFL legend is dealing with Alzheimer’s..

Former Hamilton Tiger-Cat great Angelo Mosca was told this week that he has early stages of the disease when he got the results of a recent MRI test.

The MRI was at the insistance of his wife Helen, who had been noticing incidents that had her concerned.

She says Mosca would occasionally wake up in the middle of the night not knowing where he was.

And in January her husband of 16 years didn’t recognize her when she returned home after a week in Florida.  She says he thought she was his daughter.

Mosca, a member of the CFL Hall of Fame, was one of the league’s feircest and toughest competitors, and when he retired as a defensive lineman, he became a pro wrestler.

His doctor explained that the MRI showed how badly damaged Mosca’s brain was.  He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s less than two weeks after his 78th birthday.   He has since given up his drivers licence.
