A powerful earthquake has shaken Nepal, and has triggered avalanches in the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest.
An official in Katmandu says the death toll now stands at 2,150 in Nepal, and at least 60 deaths have been reported in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Tibet.
The massive quake had a priliminary magnitude of 7.8.
It struck just before noon local time Saturday, and caused houses to collapse from the violent shaking, and destroyed ancient temples.
A 6.6 magnitude aftershock was felt about an hour later.
So far there have been over 30 aftershocks, including a major one with a 6.7 magnitude early Sunday.
Damage is most severe in the capital, Katmandu, and in the densely populated Katmandu Valley.
