An optometrist in British Columbia predicts that an eye lens implant he’s invented will eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses.

Dr. Garth Webb says his Ocumetic Bionic Lens would give a person better than three times 20/20 vision.

He says the procedure to remove a natural lens damaged by cataracts and replace it with the Bionic Lens would take only about 8 minutes: a painless procedure identical to current cataract surgery.

Dr. Webb presented his lens recently in San Diego to a group of opthalmologists. Many were so impressed that they wanted to join his advisory board.

Depending on clinical trials and tests, the new lens could be on the market in two years.
