Who’s on first, What’s on second, and the lawyers are in the courtroom.
Attorneys for the heirs of Bud Abott and Lou Costello have filed a lawsuit against the producers, promoters and playwright of “Hand of God,” a Broadway play in which a sock puppet is used to perform part of the comedy duo’s iconic routine.
The routine’s copyright holders accuse them of copyright infringement, claiming the play copied the very heart of “Who’s On First.”
The play is up for five Tony Awards.
