Angelina Jolie is continuing her work as special envoy for the United Nations High Commission on Refugees with a visit to a refugee camp in Mardin in southeastern Turkey.

The American actress calls the region the epicentre of a global crisis.

The trip by Jolie is the latest in a series of visits to Turkey, the country which hosts the most refugees. The U-N puts the figure at 1.59 million.

According to the U-N, the number of Syrian refugees is now more than two million and could go higher.

Accompanied by her daughter, 8 year-old Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, Jolie said “We must protect them. We must invest in them,”
