Joni Mitchell’s longtime friend David Crosby says the legendary Canadian singer-songwriter is unable to speak because of a brain aneurysm.

Mitchell was taken to a Los Angeles hospital in May, and Crosby says “she took a terrible hit,” and nobody found her for awhile.

The veteran rock star with Crosby, Stills and Nash said to his knowledge Mitchell isn’t speaking yet, and says she will have to struggle back from it “the way you struggle back from a traumatic brain injury.”

He says she’s tough and smart, but says he won’t guess how much she’s going to come back, and when.

Crosby called Mitchell “probably the greatest living singer-songwriter.”
