Americans are celebrating their Fourth of July, Independence Day holiday today, spending time at the beach, watching or taking part in parades, firing up the barbecue, and enjoying fireworks and entertainment Saturday evening.
In Philadelphia, the birthplace of American independence, celebrations started early with the city’s Liberty Block Party near Independence Hall on Friday. It included music on three stages, treats from local food trucks and restaurants, as well as a beer garden.
On the steps of Independence Hall, the Philly Pops performed a concert of patriotic tunes.
British superstar, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will join other performers taking part in the Saturday night Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular.
The fireworks display is made up of more than 50-thousand pyrotechnic shells.
