There was a scare Saturday when Angela Merkel fainted while in a restaurant at the annual Wagner Festival in Bayreuth, Germany.

According to reports, the 61 year-old German Chancellor fell from her chair and appeared unconscious briefly before others inside the restaurant helped her up.

It’s not known if she was injured.

It apparently happened during the first intermission of Richard Wagner’s “Tristan and Isolde”

The performance was being conducted by Wagner’s great-granddaughter, Katharina, and was the opening gala of this year’s Bayreuth Festival.

The annual month-long festival celebrates the works of the great composer, and goes back to the 19th century.
