Canadians go to the polls October 19th.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper asked Governor General David Johnston to dissolve Parliament, which means we will have an 11-week campaign before casting our ballots.
Harper’s announcement ended months of speculation about when the federal election would be.
When a reporter suggested the early election call gave the Conservatives the edge financially, Harper said any advantage his party has would be there whether the election was called now or later.
He said the economy is the main issue in the campaign.
