GTA SPRINTER WINS MEDAL AT WORLDS IN BEIJING

Canadian Andre De Grasse won a bronze medal today in the 100-metre sprint at the World Track and Field Championships in Beijing, China.

The 20-year-old from Markham, Ontario lined up at the starting blocks with 8 of the fastest men in the world, including Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, who won the race with a time of 9.79 seconds.

Justin Gatlin of the U-S was second with a time of 9.80, and American Trayvon Bromell tied with De Grasse for the bronze medal.

De Grasse won the 100 and 200 metre races at the Pan Am Games in Toronto, and won NCAA championships in the 100 and 200 metres this year in the U-S where he attends the University of Southern California. .
