There’s a call for employers to start treating marijuana like any other drug prescribed by a doctor.
Cannabis is slowly becoming more accepted as a treatment for conditions such as common pain, and experts are saying that employers have a duty to accomodate employees who are using prescribed medical marijuana as a treatment. However they say it must be balanced with concerns for safety in the workplace.
An employment lawyer says rules governing the use of medical marijuana in the workplace are being decided on a case by case basis.
