A man has been arrested in London, England in connection with threats that caused Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo to shut down its campus on Friday.

A 22-year-old man was taken into custody by London Metropolitan Police on “suspicion of malicious communications.”

Students and faculty at Wilfred Laurier were told to stay away from the school after it was locked down at 6:00 a.m. Friday.

School administrators were tipped off by the FBI about a threat that appeared to be similar to one received at a college in Oregon where a shooting took place on October 1st that left 10 people dead including the shooter.

According to Waterloo Regionl Police, the threat was in the form of an anonymous post on the on-line forum “4chan.”
