A deal has been reached between the provincial government and the union representing correction staff.
OPSEU – the Ontario Public Service Employees Union – had met Friday with government representatives and a mediator, hoping to avoid a strike by 6-thousand jail guards and probation officers.
The workers had rejected an earlier tentative agreement.
The government claims the new deal will not increase the defecit.
Outstanding monetary issues will be sent to binding arbitration.
