Actor Woody Harrelson has applied to open one of the first dispensaries of medical marijuana in Hawaii.

The 54 year-old former star of the hit television comedy “Cheers” made the application under his company name “Simple Organic Living” in Honolulu County.

The state is reviewing 66 applications, and will award dispensary permits in April.

Hawaii was the first state to legalize medical marijuana 16 years ago.

Harrelson played the part of bartender Woody Boyd in “Cheers” from 1985 until 1993, and is a long-time advocate for the legalization of marijuana.

He and his wife and their 2 daughters have lived on the Hawaiian island of Maui for many years.
