Fort McMurray residents now have an app that will give them a fairly detailed look at the neighbourhoods hardest hit by the forest fire.
But the Alberta government warns that viewing the satellite images may be traumatic. The municipal affairs minister, who went through the wildfire evacuation in Slave Lake five years ago, says she knows firsthand how stressful it can be to wait for updates on which homes have been lost.

Some Fort McMurray residents are being reunited with their vehicles this weekend. About 100 vehicles were recovered on Highway 63 south of the city over the past week, abandoned as they ran out of gas during the wildfire evacuation. The vehicles were towed to a lot in Wandering River, with the province picking up the towing and storage costs — as well as paying for a full tank of gas.
