The federal Conservative party has ended opposition to same-sex marriage.

At their convention in Vancouver, the party voted Saturday to drop their policy that marriage is defined as a union between a man and a woman.

Same-sex marriage actually became law in Canada 11 years ago.

Supporters of the change call it a breathrough, but some social conservatives are opposed to it.

The Conservatives will meet again in May of next year to chosse their new leader.
