CALGARY MOSQUE HOLDS TRIBUTE TO MUHAMMAD ALI

A public ceremony was held in a Calgary mosque Sunday to honour and remember boxing great Muhammad Ali.

The event was organized by the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada, The group called Ali a huge inspiration for all Muslims, a true defender of Islam, and a fighter for human rights and social justice,

The ceremony at the Green Dome Mosque was open to all members of the public.

Ali changed his name from Cassius Clay in the 1960s when he converted to Islam,

He died Friday in a Phoenix hospital at the age of 74. Ali was admitted earlier in the week with respiratory problems, and had a long history of Parkinson’s disease.
