A service was held this morning in Birstall, England to remember Jo Cox, the 41 year-old Labour Member of Parliament who was murdered on the street in broad daylight last Thursday.

She was a strong advocate for Brtain to remain within the European Union when voting takes place this week in a referendum on whether or not to leave the EU.

Her accused killer, 52 year-old Thomas Mair gave his name in court as “Death to traitors, freedom for Britain.”

In honouring Cox today at a service in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, the Reverend Paul Knight said we should “recognize her as an amazing example; a 21st century good samaritan.”

Prayers were also said for Cox’s husband and two small children.
