A change in heart will see those with disabilities continue to be allowed onto the grounds of the CNE for free. The CNE is reversing its decision to start charging disabled customers after critics blasted the new policy as nothing more than a cash grab. As a result of the feedback from critics, the Canadian National Exhibition has opted to keep its original policy, at least for this year. A statement on the CNE website reads “Over the last couple of days, CNE customers and members of the broader community have shown considerable interest in, and provided valuable feedback regarding the proposed changes to the admissions policy.“ To ensure that all interested voices in the community have an opportunity to help shape the policy going forward, this fall the CNE will be hosting public consultations about the admissions policy for persons with disabilities.” This year’s fair runs from Aug. 19 to Sept. 5.
