One of Eric Clapton’s guitars was purchased at an auction in Dallas,Texas Saturday for $45,000 dollars, and the money will be used to help another musician.

The 2014 Fender Stratocaster was used by the British singer-songwriter in his “Slowhand at 70” concert last year at Royal Albert Hall in London.

The bid was more than double what was expected by Heritage Auctions of Dallas. They say it was a phone bid by someone who wanted to remain anonymous.

The money will help Johnny Nicholas pay for his late wife’s leukemia treatment. Nicholas is a well-known Texas musician who is a member of the Grammy Award winning band “Asleep At the Wheel.”
