Fans at the Rogers Cup in Toronto had their hopes set on seeing local tennis hero Milos Raonic get into the final, but it wasn’t to be.
The 25 year old from Thornhill with the powerful serve lost to France’s Gael Monfils 6-4, 6-4 Friday night at Toronto’s Aviva Centre.
Tennis fans have enjoyed watching Raonic’s sucess internationally, and looked forward to seeing him perhaps win one on his home court.
Monfils’ semifinal opponent is World Number 1 Novak Djokovic. The other semifinal is between Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori.
