Meryl Streep has had a successful career for 27 years, but there was a time when the 67 year-old Hollywood legend feared that every film would be her last.

In an interview in the Wall Street Journal magazine, Streep says it was about the time she was 40 when she thought she wouldn’t be cast in any more films. She said all the evidence of other 40 year-old women at the time led her to think that.

The iconic star says she would have been very unhappy if her acting career had come to an end because of her age.

Streep and her husband Don Gummer have four children; 36 year-old son Henry, and daughters Mamie, 32, Grace, 30, and Louisa 25.

Streep will be joining the cast of “Mary Poppins Returns” and will play the part of Topsy, Mary’s cousin, while Emily Blunt will play Mary.

The sequel to the 1964 classic is scheduled to be released in December 2018.
