It’s now Saint Teresa.

Today at the Vatican, Pope Francis bestowed sainthood on Mother Teresa, the humble, Nobel prize-winning Catholic nun who spent her life caring for the poor and the sick.

She’s now known as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, after the Indian city where so much of her work was done, and where she died in 1997 at the age of 87.

Pope Francis praised her as the merciful one who defended the lives of the unborn, the sick and the abandoned.
