Playwright Edward Albee has died at the age of 88.

The three-time Pulitzer-Prize winner died Friday at his home on Long Island. The cause of his death hasn’t been disclosed.

Among Albee’s most famaous works are “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” and “A Delicate Balance.”

Albee wrote more than 25 plays, and in them he took aim at such institutions as religion, marriage, child-rearing and the upper class.

When Arthur Miller and August Wilson both died in 2005, Edward Albee was considered America’s greatest living playwright.
