Some keys and lightbulbs were sold at an auction in Texas Sunday for over 60-thousand dollars.
But they weren’t just any keys and lighbulbs.
They’re lighbulbs perfected by Thomas Edison himself, and the keys are for the New Jersey lab where he invented the phonograph.
The items were from a Pittsburgh man who had aquired them from his great aunt. Her husband was an attorney in the law firm that represented Edison in any patent lawsuits.
The keys were for doors in Edison’s Menlo Park, New Jersy lab, and had tags on them that named the particular doors.
He opened his lab in 1876, and it became known as the invention factory.
Edison was known as “The Wizard of Menlo Park.”
