Figures out Thursday show that more than 700 people have chosen to end their lives medically since the procedure became legal across Canada earlier this year and experts say those numbers are expected to rise.
A CTV News survey of provincial and territorial health ministries show that, on average, two Canadians per day had medically assisted deaths between June 17th and December 16th.
Ontario leads the country for the highest number of procedures at 180. Almost one-third of those procedures were performed in the past four weeks, suggesting that there are now approximately 13 assisted deaths performed every week in Ontario.
BC was next with 154 procedures.
There were none reported in P.E.I. or the Northwest Territories.   New Brunswick, the Yukon and Iqaluit did not release data
And In Quebec, where the procedures began in December of 2015, there were an estimated 300 assisted deaths in all of this year.
